Why I’m Starting a Blog🌱

So basically, like every millennial out there, I have decided to start a blog, in hopes to encourage me to write more and maybe even interest and educate some people on the way. I am an English with Creative Writing student (yet another reason why I must have a blog) and I’ve just finished my first year.

Writing has always been a big passion of mine but over the years I’ve felt my passion dwindle and I find myself annoyed that I’m not the same 11-year-old starry eyed kid who wrote about ladybirds eating cheese toasties. Anything I do write is subject to remain a secret in my notebook never to be seen by human eyes. And I want to change that.

So here are some things you should expect from this blog and some things I hope to talk about. I have so many passions and often times my friends and family’s hobbies don’t align with my own, so to have somewhere to vent or rejoice in these would be amazing. So, expect to see

Plant updates:

· Gardening is a huge hobby of mine, specifically indoor plants as my sort of shitty Belfast back garden doesn’t exactly allow me to be the plant mom I strive to be. I’d like to talk about all the plants I own, how to care for them and generally just talk nonsense about my children so perhaps I won’t annoy everyone around me with it. (I probably still will.)

Low Waste:

· I have been interested in the environment ever since I was a kid. It always bothered me when I throwed anything out that it would never disappear. Now in 2019 we are looking Global Warming and plastic filled oceans in the face. I am forever annoying my friends by ranting about how I am trying to improve my life by limiting my waste and giving them disappointed mother looks when they pick up a plastic produce bag to put their broccoli in (yes Stacey I’m looking at you.) I hope to give some ideas and get even more ideas on how to become low waste or even zero waste. As I am not vegan I hope to share some frustrations with trying to reduce plastic and not being vegan as I feel a lot of zero waste bloggers and vloggers are vegan and therefore are able to go plastic free a lot easier.

Movie and Book reviews:

· I am a huge movie and book lover, although I don’t have as much time to dedicate to them as I’d like, when I do watch or read something; you best believe I have a lot of thoughts. I like to think in-depth about movies and really analyse what was intended, talk about the way it was shot, even though I personally didn’t enjoy it: was it still a good movie? Analysing the language of a book, metaphors, motifs and all that jazz that no one else wants to hear about.

Travel

· Although I do not travel a lot, when I do it I usually like to think about “well who would have enjoyed this holiday” “I would never bring my kid here” or “would I come back here” and I hope by doing this maybe someone else will read and save themselves a trip that doesn’t suit them.

Poetry and Writing

· And finally, poetry and writing! As I am working on my English and creative writing degree, I find myself writing more and being inspire more as well. Sometimes I find myself writing poems that I like but are missing something and having input from others is very helpful. I also like to combine my work with visuals such as drawings and pictures I’ve taken, to maybe get the reader to feel what I am trying to portray. My hope with this is to maybe make myself a little bit more vulnerable to others as I find I’m always thinking people will think my work is rubbish – but I’m studying creative writing, might as well get used to showing people my stuff

So yeah that is an overlook of what I hope to talk about on this blog. I’m sure I’ll find other stuff to talk about outside of there, as I am forever growing and hopefully, I will find new things to talk about.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy what is to come🌿
